SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, Calif. - Santa Barbara-Santa Maria-Lompoc home market is in the top 100 when it comes to those searching for homes, this according to the real estate group Realtor.com.

According to the web site: October 2012 real estate search results are in and Santa Barbara-Santa Maria-Lompoc, CA was the #95 most searched market in the country in October 2012, based on data released today by Realtor.com, the #1 homes for sale real estate web site.

Median list prices for homes in Santa Barbara-Santa Maria-Lompoc, CA hit $710,000 in October 2012, a 27.03% increase from one year ago this month, and -2.07% decrease from September 2012.  The national median list price in October 2012 was $189,900, a 0.00% increase compared to October 2011.

Active for sale inventory of homes in Santa Barbara-Santa Maria-Lompoc, CA in October 2012 leveled out at 1,358, a -27.36% decrease compared to October 2011.

Goleta Continues to Push for Green Building Practices

GOLETA, Calif. - Goleta City Council moving forward towards better sustainability with it's "Green Building Program."  The new program, which takes effect on January 1, 2013 is designed to promote green building practices in the city.

According to the city, "the Goleta City Council demonstrated its commitment to sustainability when it adopted a largely voluntary Green Building Program on October 16, 2012.  The new program will take effect on January 1, 2013, and will include access to free resources such as information about green building best practices, utility rebates, and financing options.

County Supervisors Will Not Appeal Chumash Annexation

SANTA MARIA – The Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors will not formally appeal a decision by the Federal Government to allow the Chumash Indian Tribe to transfer about 7 acres of land it owns into its sovereign reservation.

The federal Department of the Interior's Bureau of Indian Affairs gave its second approval to the Chumash last month to annex the 6.9 acres along Highway 246 in Santa Ynez across the street from its hotel and casino.

The tribe says it wants to build a Chumash cultural center and museum along with a park and retail complex on the land.

Santa Ynez Valley opposition groups tried but failed to block the land transfer in court.

Opponents urged the County to formally appeal the annexation warning the County will lose authority over all future use of the land and any future tax revenue.

SOLVANG, CA – May 30, 2012 – The Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians announced today it has closed escrow on the purchase of the Hadsten House Inn in Solvang.

“We are excited about adding the Hadsten House to our portfolio,” said Tribal Chairman Vincent Armenta. “The property has made a name for itself as one of the Valley’s favorite destinations when it comes to quality, boutique lodging.”

The two-story, 71-room property at 1450 Mission Drive includes a restaurant, and is one of the only lodging facilities in Santa Barbara County with an indoor, heated swimming pool. The building first went up on the site in 1972, and in 2007 underwent a major renovation to bring it to its current state.

The Chumash purchased the Hadsten House from AFTC-Solvang, and the Iqbal family. Details of the sale are not being disclosed.
