local man who allegedly used a skateboard to assault a counselor at Solvang School before stealing a car and leading deputies on a high-speed chase has pleaded not guilty to 11 felony counts.
Zachary Ulrick, 20, of Solvang formally denied the charges Tuesday, May 18, in Santa Barbara County Superior Court in Santa Maria.
The 2008 graduate of Santa Ynez Valley Union High School, where he was a member of the volleyball, water polo and wrestling teams, was scheduled to return to court Monday for a routine hearing.
The allegations against him include robbery, assault with a deadly weapon (using a skateboard on four victims), car theft, commercial burglary, evading a police officer in a car, causing injury to two people, and resisting a police officer, said Stephen Foley, acting chief trial deputy for the North County.
